Antihyperlipidemic Studies of Methanolic Extract of Gossypium herbaceum: An In silico and In vivo Approach

Aim: To evaluate anti-hyperlipidemic activity of the whole plant Gossypium herbaceum extract in Wistar Albino Rats.
 Methods: The were collected and extracted with methanol by soxhlation. It was tested Triton Propylthiouracil (PTU) induced hyperlipidemic rat models antioxidant hydrogen peroxide radical scavenging assay.
 Results: Basic phytochemical tests resulted presence flavonoids, terpenoids, steroids, phytosterols, carbohydrates, alkaloids, tannins phenolic compounds. In hyperlipidemia (PTU), effect a methanolic studied. MEGH (200 400 mg/kg, p.o.) treatment greatly decreased enhanced serum lipids, restored HDL compared to disease group. Histopathological examinations showed recovery damaged liver cells treated extract's capacity scavenge free radicals caused also measured. Ascorbic acid served as reference. result demonstrates that plant's has substantial antihyperlipidemic properties.
